The well-known Jilin Medical University was named previously as the famous Jilin Military Medical University and also as the Jilin Air Force Medical University. The institute was founded in the year 1952 mainly as the Anshan Air Force Medical Middle School. The school was then later developed into the Jilin Air Force Medical University. It has been reported that such university was the only medical university that existed of the Air Force. Later on, the university had merged with the largest military school, which was known as the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. During that time, the university was renamed again to Jilin Military Medical University. Then as of the year 2004, the university was of the academies of the Chinese PLA.
